Cities across the United States are devastated by the effects of poverty. Poverty acts as a growing cancer to economic growth as it contributes to crime, recidivism, childhood poverty, unemployment, poor health and urban decay.
Over 40% of the population of North Carolina live below the ALICE Threshold, barely able to afford the necessities in life. Many citizens are caught in a cyclical economic struggle to make ends meet, and can’t seem to find a sustainable way out. The impoverished represent the most underdeveloped segment of the population economically. Our mission is to provide a solution.
People suffering from poverty often need substantial training, support and guidance to put them on the right track to self-sufficiency. Because of the many challenges they face, this population is difficult to reach and to serve in terms of economic development. They are challenged by a lack of education, workforce readiness, financial literacy, income, and inroads to economic opportunity.
Education and opportunity are the keys to solving poverty and the many social ills created by it. Although the impoverished are suffering economically, there is a great deal of undiscovered, unlocked promise in underperforming communities.
We believe developing tomorrow’s entrepreneurs is the key to transforming, invigorating economically disadvantaged communities.
